After you complete your paperwork and attend an orientation, you will submit your volunteer background check, attend hands-on training for your desired role(s), and then get added to the schedule according to your availability! The cost of the background check is $20.00. Background checks are required for anyone over 18 years of age, except Court Ordered Community Service (COCS). A conviction found on a background check will not automatically disqualify you to participate in the equine program, but rather is grounds for an open conversation with our volunteer coordinator to discuss the charges.
